Factors that effect the route of the medicine you take!!

 

INTRODUCTION

Route of administering drugs in the body can be different, like a particular drug let’s take paracetamol, when we have fever it’s the most common drug that we take and when our situation worsens the doctor might inject it too.

So what are different ways in which we can take drugs? Why are there so many different ways of taking drugs in our body and what does it signify?

So, let’s take a look at the factors what governs the choice of the route of the drug i.e how a drug should be taken.

1.    

1. Physical and chemical properties of the drug, weather the drug is solid liquid or gas. Its solubility in different body fluids, because we cannot take a drug which is a gas like NO by oral route, it will be absurd.

2.  2. Site of desired action is also taken into consideration because many drugs require a localised effect and other drugs require a specific site of action

3.  3. And we should also take into account that the drug we take       orally mostly has to face the gastric juces in the first pass effect so it might change its properties so we may need a different route of administering the drug.

4.4.  Talking about absorption there are drugs which have a very high absorption rate and thus they should be administered to the specific action site to have adequate effect.

5.  5. The route of administration also depend on how fast we need the drug to have the effect like taking the oral route may take a long time for aspirin to work on the blood  than by injecting it.

6.  6.Next factor which defines as to how a drug should be given is the accuracy of the dose. Often oral route tampers the dosage amount and mostly by the metabolism of it in the digestive tract so injecting the drug can be done.

7.  7. The next very important factor that should be taken is the condition of the patient. We should know weather the patient is conscious or not. We should check the patient responsiveness in that situation and then administer the drug accordingly.

 

CONCLUSION

So, the conclusion to this topic is that the way we take a drug differs according to the drug and the above listed factors.

  So today we will talk about wounds very briefly .
